First post on the forum! So basically, we all know we've been running an escalation for 8th ed fantasy, so everyon can get their heads around it again without getting bogged down in rules. The time has come, however, to lift the limitations and increase points allowance from 750 to 1000. So my question is this - I REALLY want to try out the Black Coach, as I feel it'd be a fluffy fit for my Vampire list. Issue is, I could also get another 100 Zombies for the points it costs. What sounds fluffier and generally more awesome, a Black Coach heralding the arrival of my Vampire Dutchess, or a sea of bodies slowly flooding across the board?

Id go for it, tbf go for it to play test it. Fluff can always be worked out around it.
My next list will have a lvl 2 wizard with a Bloodcrusher squad added on.

I'd say go for it...the thing to ask yourself though is will you have more fun playing that our marching another 100 zombies across the board?

I'd wait and flood the board in zombies if that's your alternative...the black coach is awesome but for it to be at its best, you should be rolling more magic and have more enemies to evilly squish under your wheels! It is a brick though! I'd even consider using a mortis engine before that,it will protect your army and it's still a moving undead nuclear reactor. Long live the Dead

Thanks for all the responses guys My gripe is that I can't really put out a lot of power dice if I run the coach, but the hitting power it has could quite easily turn a combat in my favour very quickly. Much more so than all the zombies in the world. That and it's Vampiric, so no crumbling for once. Lol. I've heard pretty mixed things about the Mortis Engine. I wanna run one, but with a 5+ save and that's it, a single cannonball seems a bit too likely.... Not to mention with my Miscast rate (100% every game ) the odds are I'll be even more likely to s'plode my mages. XD

So, Here is a list I've come up with. No Black Coach for now, but lots and lots of bodies..
Master Necromancer (lvl 3) 4+ Ward
Necromancer, lvl 1 Necromancer, lvl 1 Banshee
Zombies x20 ZOmbies x20 Zombies x20 Zombies x20
Ghouls x20
Crypt Horrors x3
So hopefully I'll not miscast and aweful lot and just raise lots of dead things while the banshee, ghouls and horros deal the smashing in combat.
Thoughts?

cool.i'm not a fan of the banshees based on their points for prizes. I'd start with one horde of zombies and the 2 20's-if you're raising/adding as you go anyway, you can maintain it at horde lvl easily enough while adding away at the other 2(which may not make it to that lvl) but when it comes down to the combat, you'll be pleased with the extra 10 attacks/scrawny swipes. you're obviously a zombie so get a corpse cart in there, cheap and cheerful(in a rictus grin sort of way!)and always a bonus oops,i meant zombie fan, honestly!

At the 1000 mark, are we allowed any Rare units?

I can probably hit 3000 points with my Dwarves at the moment if I fielded everything blinged to the max
But I like fluffy armies just because they are what I would imagine seeing if it was an actual battle
No 3 organ guns here as that would just be insane!

I unfortunately don't have my hands on the Black coach mini, but I do like the ideas presented here - stay fluffy, keep to a theme. I think my theme isn't going to be vampiric per say, but horrific and nightmarish. So ghouls, a sea of zombies, maybe a banshee or two, and if I can afford it, a mortis engine maybe We'll see what happens!
